Fascinating and majestic, the Paganella Plateau lies between the mountain of the same name overlooking the Adige valley and the spectacular Brenta Group, offering one of the most beautiful vistas in the Dolomites: the view from its summit spans all of Trentino.
With its beauty and natural charm, Paganella is a mountain with many facets, convenient, and loved by hikers, rock climbers, and skiers. With so many options and possibilities, it’s ideal for a family holiday or among friends – an unforgettable destination!
Our Chalet Rifugio La Roda is situated in a unique and breathtaking location overlooking the Paganella peak, and from our meadows you can admire the majestic pinnacles of the Brenta Group, the Belluno and South Tyrolean Dolomites, and a little further away Lake Garda, which stretches down to the lowlands.
Our chalet has always been respectful of this wonderful setting, without disrupting it. It offers a gourmet break that goes hand in hand with the peace and serenity that you can experience at an altitude of 2125 metres.
Our adventure at La Roda began in 1998, when we gave a concrete form to the passion that inspires us to this day. In 2006, this ambition led us to make the quality leap that is now our signature, here on the Paganella mountainside. A reverence for nature and for traditional flavours, care, and experimentation are the key words of our mission and of our hospitality philosophy.
The project of the first refuge built in 1965 by Mr. Longhi and his wife Paola who still did not imagine the development that the mountain would have from a tourist point of view.
In the 60s the refuge was frequented by the few elegant tourists who spent their holidays in Andalo.
The skis of a few years ago certainly did not have the technical characteristics of today, but skiing was already a guaranteed fun, even during breaks at the refuge.
One of the last photos of the shelter before it went completely burned in December 1989.
We bought Il Rifugio La Roda in 1998 from Mr. Longhi di Lavis and in the following eight years we worked with a view to giving shape to the new Chalet you find today.
Our commitment to a sustainable footprint
From the outset, our regard for the beautiful land we call home has led us to adopt the most sustainable approach possible – from refurbishing the chalet using eco-building systems, to the use of geothermal heating and state-of-the-art equipment. We also raise awareness about these issues with our guests.
In our search for raw ingredients, we also strive to choose local products and small local farms. We use the herbs and buds of the fir trees that grow on the mountainsides in our cooking, and their fresh scent suffuses many of our dishes.
Piccolo Dolomiti Resort, our family hotel at the foot of Mt Piz Galin in Andalo, is elegant and exclusive, ready to welcome guests who wish to spend a few days in peaceful, serene relaxation.
